Volume is GAHH!

At some time I had discovered the precise median volume setting for all the programs on my computer.
When I had accomplished this momentous task, it meant that I could set my computer’s volume and then set various relative volumes on the many computer programs I run and be able to hear everything on the computer at the right volume perfectly without having to futz around with the volume control dial every 15 minutes.
Unfortunately, during my quest to get the mic on my headset working with Windows 7 (a pointless endeavor, it turned out to be a driver issue), this delicate balance was destroyed. As a result, I am constantly having to adjust the volume on my computer in order to hear people talking on Hulu and not get blasted away by spellcasting in Dragon Age.
This is immensely annoying.
I understand Windows has the Mixer for precisely this purpose, but that is just too much work. I guess I’ll just keep messing around with the dial.
